I work for o2 in Tunbridge Wells (Kent, UK). Kelly Holmes was there to turn on the Christmas lights in the shopping centre.

Now, to me this seemed a tad excessive. She had at least 5 bodyguards and a lot of police protection. I understand she is a 'local celebrity' but this seemed a tad over the top. We even had the police come and question us during the day to make sure we (quoted from the cop that came round) 'Do you have a violent background? Have you ever thought of harming someone?'.

I would like to make the point that I am not violent (unless severley provocked) but I thought these questions were inappropriate. Apparently these questions were asked in case we wanted to harm her (by throwing 'things' at her (im on the top floor, she was directly beneath my shop)).

The point of this thread is..........Have you ever experienced 'celebrities' having special treatment? If so, what was the 'special treatment'?.

I don't know who she (?) is and I would have laughed at any officer who tried to ask me. we have PACE in this country.

She acts like this in hildenborough as well (i think its her hometown). After the olympics she was an absolute nightmare around the sevenoaks/hilden/t-wells area.

Not really.... especially when the latest celebrity (Shaun Wright Philips) stopped at my store so that his mate can buy some accessory.

I feel lucky i live up in the medway area (when not in York), so I'm safe from it all.

Having said that, I once saw Tony Blair buying flowers in Gravesend (HA! who'd buy flowers there?). With like 1000 photographers... and maybe 2 policemen or something. Admittedly, this was before Labour came into power.

He also had around 20 anti-facists walking about 8 meters behind him, with grafity sprays in their bags ready to assault him.

Are you kidding me? Seriously, it's generally not the nicest area in kent to live. If Kent is the garden of England, the Medway / Gravesham / etc area is the sewage heap leading into the river/stream / whatever.

We had Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie visiting here while making the Assassination of Jesse James ... once they were spotted and identified at our resident large shopping mall, they were hounded to no effect by everyone in the whole mall. There were stories about some of the smaller stores closing up temporarily so the staff could go see the stars. There wasn't any police escorts or massive amounts of security around, although given how many people were in the mall at the time, there probably should have been.

Was just going to point that out, wonder if any were also jewish...

The only experience I have of anything like this was when they were shooting Angelas Ashes here, right outside where I was studiying. We couldn't get out of the building for 4 hours and were blocked by stupid walls of security men, all too large for their own good.
When I eventually got out to go buy something to eat (about 3 hours after lunch) I was greeted by Emily Watson and Robert Carlyle.....'s security....blocking me from going into the shop until they were finished.
****ing load of shit.
The bitch only bought a pack of pringles, that twonk only bought fags.
Made me late back and I had to suffer numerous more security men quzzing me in order to let me get back into the damn building.

We did gain some revenge by throwing M&M's at the actors from the upper story windows. I'm sure with the advent of HD here, you'll be able to see my red M&M twat the kid playing Frank McCourt as he runs to the pub.
