A suprisingly good film imo.
I've seen it like 5 times or so now and i still enjoy it.
I dare people to disagree with me.

Not really.
I mean she was easy on the eye and "i would" but she didn't "make" the film.
****ing with the normal expectations of the genre (and some decent lines) is what made the film good (ohhh and a decentish plot).

the first time i watched it i thought it was rather crappy up till the point where samual l jackson is eaten
it took me 'by surprise' and as such, although the rest of the plot is rather 'strenuous' in the logic department it takes the genre and opens it up to a few new twists and turns.

The film is below-average, its only redeeming feature being the Sammy L Jacko 'surprise' which is somewhat spoiled once you've seen the film once, with 'nice tits bird's acting being paper thin and that frigging 'science kid' who 'dies horribly'.
And deservedly so.

Yes there are quite a few "logic gaps".
TBH tho there are probably fewer in this film than in the majority of Hollywood Blockbusters.
As such i can "let it slide".

It was quite good. Simply because it threw in enough surprises amongst all of the typical 'opening door one second before shark eats you' moments to keep it all interesting.
Especially near the end where I expected the obvious boy-girl 'we've just saved the world' kissing scene, only for the girl part to die 5 minutes before her cue.

This probably shows I play video games too much, but the first thing I thought when I saw it the first time was "my god, they made a movie of a Quake III level?!".
I adjusted my impressions once it got going, but the whole 'corridors' section looks suspiciously Q3Aish. I want killer sharks with quad-damage, damnit!

Since when was there a Q3 level called Deep Blue Sea?
(Unless you mean that ****e RA3 custom one but that doesn't count due to utter uselessness.)

I didn't say there was.
It just reminded me of one (it was some custom one I got from some obscure site, and I can't remember its name).

It was rather awful actually, to say it had the best person ever, Samuel L Jackson.
When that chopper flew into to building and everybody died and then some bloke got up and said "I'll take this as a sign", and took a swig out of that bottle the film lost every hint of respectability.

Tbh I thought it was great.
It was the first time I watched it, and as such it had many, many parts that you wouldnt expect at all.
From seeing the cast, you might automaticaly assume that Samual L Jacksons character would survive, I sure did. So when he's telling them how there going to get out and he gets eaten...very unexpected and as such very good.
There are examples like that for most characters, the ones you think are dead for sure many times seem to survive, and those you would have expected to live die...
Great film.

I don't usually like those types of films, ie survival horror involving scary animals but this one I did. I even bought the DVD.
Plus as mentioned it forgets about some of the stereotypes of the genre, eg the black man dying. Then again, considering that the black man is LL Cool J you wouldn't expect him to die either.
I hope noone who hasn't seen the film reads this thread

I originally thought that it was going to be some really bad shark film, but in the end it turned out pretty good. There where some suprising bit's in the movie that genually surprised me, they wern't actually expected, like Samual L Jackson geting eaten in the middle of his speach, that was a genuine suprise, and at the end, I also expected to have the guy and woman surviving and kissing and such, but she died too. LL Cool J was quite funny, like when he was in the oven. And when the air lock was filling up with water, the Revised "Valley of Death" made me laugh. Overall, I thought that it was pretty good, which was a suprise because I wasn't expecting much...

B - Randomblondebird as "Token Blonde who gets tragiclly eaten"
or
C - ThatmingerwhoplaysJanicefromSoprano's as "Token communications chick who gets murdered by a blunt object, to whit, a helicopter"

I just liked the bit where Samuel L Jackson gets eaten after his motivational speech. Rest was quite poor.
