Re: and the main attraction of the local fair is...
I've milked a goat once. Cows as well.
I prefer pasturised and low-fat milk from the supermarket.

Re: and the main attraction of the local fair is...
There is a children's zoo in this town. Well, it's more of a farm than a zoo, considering it has only basic animals like cows, goats, chickens, pigs and the like. In addition to the animals, there's several attractions, such as the huge haystack and all.
I haven't been there in over 10 years or so, but I've been there a good few times as a kid, including on school trips. As such, there once was a goat milking exhibition, and the guy doing it invited a few people to give it a try. I was of course willing to give it a try, and thus I milked a goat.

If you are 20, climbing through and playing in a haystack is extremely cool.

Re: and the main attraction of the local fair is...
When I was a young lad, there used to be a goat farm down the road from us. So I was always fed on goat's milk.

It sounds like more fun than the Shildon Gala. The highlight there was that the Royal Navy was handing out posters as part of some recruitment drive.
