Re: [Financial Advice] Converting Pounds to Euros
I've just been to Dublin. Couldn't be bothered to change money before hand so just used cash machines. Got a good exchange rate minus £1.50 service charge. This is a good idea if you are worried about theft to be honest, as you are never really carrying all of your money in cash.
As Dante said travellers cheques seem a bit of a rip off. But to add to this they may be hard to change depending on where you are going. For example, if you are traveling about, and you miss a train and arrive at one in the morning somewhere with no money, you are not going to get them changed very quickly.
Depending on what account you have and with whome you may be able to convert money charge free and commission free with them. Lloyds TSB and HSBC do it on their student accounts afaik.
