That's actually not too much of an exaggeration.

thanks for clearing that out
on the matter
i havent got the reason why we wants to have the rock removed
usually im 100% against religion, but half measures wont get anywhere
religion should be banned
*or*
a peacefull relation between state and religion
the fact that the stupid rock is over there doenst mean that the judges will use it to give their decisions
its more like an decorative artifact

Not the rock, no...but if they're quarreling with the feds over a religious issue, don't you think that erodes the notion of an unbiased judgement?
Read the what the judge said about it, and ask yourself if he's level-headed.
I wouldn't want to appear before a judge who is that zealous about religion.

All of this is just political posturing. A judge campaigns for election to 'bring god's law to the courthouse.' He knows the ten commandments have no legal weight and if he started issuing rulings based on the bible his decisions would be appealed and overturned in a New York minute. So, instead, he literally wheels the ten commandments (or a reasonable facsimile ) into the courthouse where they are highly visible but have no real effect except to placate his supporters (who might otherwise start to wonder why is isn't issuing rulings based on the bible).
Of course, this annoys lots of other people who think it's inappropriate to have religious symbols prominently displayed on public property. Controversy ensues. Win or lose, the judge can claim he acted to fulfill his campaign promise without having to issue any decisions that would discredit his standing as a judge.
The man is clearly a brilliant politician but, as such, is unsuited for the judiciary.

You know, if there was a cross carved on it he'd have no defense, yet somehow it's considered different with the 10 commandmants, which are just as much a Christian symbol. Sure, there's ones that sound like laws like 'don't kill', but I seem to remember one about having to worship the Christian God...

The 10 commandments are in the OT and I believe they are respected by Jews and Muslims alike. As much as anyone takes them seriously that is.
Here are the two occurances:
http://bible.gospelcom.net/cgi-bin/b...sh&version=NIV
http://bible.gospelcom.net/cgi-bin/b...sh&version=NIV
You are referring to the second commandment, "You shall have no other gods before me." I've heard it said that this allows polytheism (as long as that god is the one you worship most). It might as well also allow atheism as long as you don't worship any god at all.
