Ever watched a movie
And become so engrossed in it , that youve actually sat in the room , alone , clapping at the end of it , its been that much of an emotional journey?
Ive just re-watched The Godfather. And thats what i did.
Watching Godfather two just now, and im seeing again why i both like and dislike to a degree Robert De Niro. He brings a presence to screen thats huge in comparison to his physical stature. It demands respect and exudes charisma.
But at the same time, his every character has something dislikeable about it, something slimey , something not quite on the level. De Niro never plays a character you could relate to on the basis of "I can trust this man".
Maybe thats just his unique talent. I just dunno.
Same reason maybe every time i see John Leguizamo on screen i instantly despise his character , hero or villain, despite the fact i think hes a top actor.

I don't clap at the end of Shawshank, I just sit there, wishing that if I was ever in that situation, I would find someone to bring out as Andy does.

I honestly just sit there thinking "How does Pacino play a character that can emotionally detach himself in that way whilst at the same time portray overwhelming love to his wife and child"
Perhaps thats why the Italian Families dont run the cities anymore.

No that's because of a declining birth-rate and relative embourgeoisement.
Anyway : Jimmy Stewart in "It's A Wonderful Life" to me is class acting. Even though I've seen it countless times, I still want his idiot assistant to find the damn money in the bank. It's a brilliant journey of altruism vs egoism, etc.

Schindler's List, the end music contributes to this though (it's very tragic, yet beautiful).

All actors should aspire to be Vin Diesel.

In fact, what was the last line in xXx? It was so utterly cheesy I wet myself infront of an attractive young lady, yet now can't remember it.

I am like this with every movie I watch, perhaps because I avoid watching the crap ones. Even when I'm not alone I am able to completely focus out everyone and everything else in the room and concentrate purely on the movie so I usually end up quite engrossed no matter what I watch. I am the sort of person that demands complete silence while viewing and will thwart every bastard that insists on making commentry along the way. I feel my movie viewing experience is all the better for it since I tend to pickup on plot lines and little nuences that people otherwise miss which I believe is why so many great movies get the flick.
