i may be an utter nincompoop but i was under the impression that HTML and hence 'the web' part of the internet as we know it only came about in the 90s. Before that i thought there was only usenet etc. What the hell did those sites do? leet ASCII pics? i wonder if ASCII porn was ever hot in the 80s.
