Well, semantics 
His main problem was that he didnt really fit in, position wise. Nor was he world-class, and left-back was already taken by Cole. Atleast the club got a bit of the money back when Barca bought him.

yep saw it last night on Goal Lazio or whatever there calling it on channel 5. He's doing a Diego Forlan by the looks of it... although Forlans having a shit season which makes me feel better after we sold him and he was top scorer in la liga in his first season

Allegedly , Arsenal are in pole position for the signature of Wonderkid Theo Walcott from Spurs in a deal which could be worth up to £15m for the club.

Arsenal fan.
I'm pleased that we're active in the transfer market, my biggest fear this January was that we wouldn't buy any new players. It's too much to expect Wenger to buy proven players, it's just not his style. He prefers to develop them and it's worked in the past (Anelka, Viera, Henry). Neither Diaby or Emmanuel Adebayor are English, so we should be relatively safe on that front. Diaby is in fact compared to the young Viera, while Adebayor was the top scorer (for Togo) in African qualifiers for the World Cup this year, and has twice been nominated for African Footballer of the Year.
Walcott? I'll be delighted to get him, he seems to have his head screwed on unlike Pennant. A good deal for both us and Southampton in my eyes.

15mill is WAY to much. Besides, he is just 16 so it will take some years before he can play regularly in the Premiership. For 15mill we can get a established central mitfielder, and that is what the club needs now.

The Walcott article from this morning seems to have changed a fair bit remains the same link though.
sniborp - interestingly Adebayor's taking the number 25 shirt, the same as Kanu wore. Diaby's taken the number 2 shirt, which was practically retired after Dixon left (Lauren wears 12). Interesting choice for a central midfielder, but hey ho - after all, Mascherano in Argentina wears 5, which is what they consider a defensive central midfielder like Makelele.

Viera wore the number 4, which I always took as the central defenders shirt so it doesn't bother me really. However I'm not really a fan of the Kanu type player.

The Walcott deal is being talked about in terms of £15M , but its probably something like £4M upfront , another few mill over the next 2 years , the rest based on club appearances , club goals , international appearances , international goals, and of course, the inevitable, a sell on clause.
Wenger might be saying its a massive amount, but the chairman will structure it properly if it goes through so that the club doesnt pay out all at once.
Odds are part of the deal will be Walcott staying at St Mary's till hes 18 or something. Burley is excellent developing youth players (when hes Sober).

When this new guy is refered to as Kanu II, it gets me very worried. Simply becouse Kanu was so ineffective, that the sight of him beeing substitued in made me nervous, when he still played for the club.

I was a massive fan of Kanu when he arrived (hell, I was told I looked like him a wee bit back in secondary school because of the haircut). Now he's slow, ineffective (apart when he scored two goals against god knows who in the League) and useless for "big" clubs.

he's a decent midfielder in the championship - or at least he was for us.
Not premiership class but should be decent for Cardiff.

Arsenal plays with Djorou (19 soon) and Senderos (21?) in central defence and Cygan on left back, and Boro is so far away from scoring a goal...

Yea he had a good game, he took the second goal extremely well, flicking it up, chesting it and vollying home. He looks like he can finish which is what we need to take some of the pressure off Jerome, he also works his guts out which makes a change after having to watch that fat, useless, lazy waste of space Ricketts for the past few months, how on earth Rickets thinks he has a hope of Premiership football is beyond me. Scimeca came on towards the end and played in a 5 man midfield as we killed the game off, I didn't get to see much of him but I imagine in the longer term he's going to slot in at right back for the dreadful Rhys Weston. Still really happy with the result against a Burnley side which made us look idiots for the entire first half, the crunch point of our season is now upon us, if we can get good results against Leicester and Millwall while retaining Jerome (Sheffield United bound) and Koumas (Leeds bound) then I think we'll put in a good push for the play offs else we'll probably bob about mid table before rebuilding in the summer. It's kind of sad that we didn't have a manager like Dave Jones when we had money to spend (Waste) I honestly think we really could have gone somewhere as club, it's even sadder that that our future prospects are now irrevocably bound to the stadium project and the councils decision will probably seal the fate of Koumas and Looverns at the club.

Mendes, Davis, Mwaruwari and Pamarot all did their job by all accounts. Sadly I was priced out of this one.
Redknapp decided to play our best left winger (Taylor) at left back meaning we were constantly hoof ing it up, Hughes at left wing (when he's the most defensive player you've ever seen) which meant we had no width as Gary O'Neil had to play on the right with the new lads in. Add in that selfish **** lua lua up front who is thinking he can save us single handedly to absolutely blunt your attack.
On top of this we sign players who can play football and have stopped investing in the pitch (because of our new stadium) so it cuts up, we're apparently playing to scrap so against Everton, there's only going to be one winner, cos as soon as they get a goal, they are going to stick 11 men behind the ball and turn into a midfield shitefest as despite being shite, they're still one of the most organised teams in the league.
Basically it was a case of good players, crap management. And Everton have won 3 on the spin now in the league.

He played very well in Liverpool's CL run - which is all that really matters in this kind of voting thing.
Lampard missing out to him, though, is a bit on the bizarre side.

Garcia's inclusion seems like a particularly sick joke to me - I suppose they wanted to keep the Spanish quotient high to keep everyone happy. I'm suprised at the inclusion of Nedved, but the rest of the team seems sound.

Cafu and Puyol is surely Right backs? (ok Puyol often plays in the middle)
WTF is Nedved doing there? Surely a player like Lampard or Kaka should have been there instead?

My guesses would be Porsmouth, Sunderland and Birmingham.
I really dont see Villa going down either. Sure we have a small squad but aslong as we avoid getting 3 strikers injured we should be fine.

Villa's squad is not very good and rather small. Baros getting injured... Im not saying that its a big chance to go down, Im saying it could happen.
I rate Everton, Newcastle and Fulham as better teams.
