Lightbulb Forum improvement... [never mind]
On some other board (it might've been based on phpBB) I've seen a nice little modification:

The threadstarter gets a little "Threadstarter"-label or a special frame or font or something for his posts. It makes it much nicer and easier to read long threads and follow discussions, if you don't know all of the posters or keep forgetting who asked the first question... youknow?


I just thought as this seems to be such a "tiny mod", maybe any chance?

A lot of threads are good in spite of the original post/poster, not because of them. Why should you get special treatment just because you happened to make the thread?

don't know, however in retrospect I think thread ratings as opposed to users ratings would have been a much more meaningful system.

I don't think it'd be that helpful on a board like GD to be honest. Most good threads are good because the original poster posts something staggeringly wrong and everyone rushes in to refute and posts so quickly they get things wrong and then those things get argued about and they're interesting because they betray people's hidden prejudices. It's a bit like the history of philosophy. As the number of unbelievably shit assholes endlessly refuting each other tends towards infinity we discover the invention of the comedic genre.

Also I'm pretty sure none of us mods could code our way out of a paper bag.
