My Group Policy Editor won't work anymore
I'm using Windows XP Prof. SP2. And I've used the Group Policy Editor before (to specify the Windows Update Server of my uni to save bandwidth).
Now I wanted to create a guest account and restrict some of the settings.
BUT: Whenever I try to open the Policy Editor, I get the error message:
Snap-In couldn't be initialized.
Name: Group Policy
CLSID:{8FC0..............}
Then I see the MMC (MS management console) with another error message in the main window: Snap-In-Creation failed. CLSID etc, "maybe the snap-in wasn't installed correctly".
The same happens when I try to run gpedit.msc directly, or try to import this snap-in into MMC.
Now, I HAVE found some people on the internet with the same problem. But NO kind of solution or idea at all. Especially no KB article... :-/
So could you all go and click Start, Run..., enter "gpedit.msc", Ok, and see if it runs?
And tell me WHY in god's name I cannot get it to run? I've changed nothing (as usual)...
