although i can see that germany and france arent in americas good books at teh moment, its a bit much to say that they are 'old europe' and that their power is in decline. They still have 2 out europes 4 trillion dollar economies, and as much as america wants the new eastern european countries (poland etc) to exert more influence, i cant ever see them being as important as the big four (Germany,France,Italy,UK) in europe.

well the usa are ruled by Nazis nothing more to add.
a goverment who acts like the Bush isn't mutch better than the Hitler goverment in a lot of points. also their aims are at some points the same ^^

Ok, while i myself dont agree one bit with the policy concerning iraq by the german government, mr. rumsfeld is going to far now. Firstly what he says is simply not true, i dont remember any member of our government saying that we wont help in rebuilding iraq. Secondly, if he really things we are as "cooperative" as lybia and cuba i am sure he has no problems that we also lock down the american airbases in germany and remove our personel from the AWACS and immediatly withdraw out anti-abc weapons contigent from kuwait and while being at it we can also withdraw our troops from afghanistan and macedonia.
seriously, guys like rumsfeld make me angry and ppl wonder where anti-american sentiments comes from. after comments like this he should be removed from office, just like our minister of justice däubler-gmelin was after her hitler comment on bush.
luckily there are reasonable people in the us government like powell and condelisa rice who can control ppl like rumsfeld or cheney fir that matter...

The cdu has always been a bunch of coward traitors. instead of backing up the german government against this outragous insults they are kissing up to bush and Rumsfeld. The cdu has always disgusted me. They are specialised to win elections by going against people who cant defend themselves( the foreigners and refugees) but when when it comes to backing up their own government , they run and hide.

read my post again. i am criticising rumsfeld, not the us policy on iraq. and i dont do some ****ing buttkissing, i am giving my opinion, if it happens to be mostly in line what someone is doing fine, if not i criticise it. i dont support someone for being just someone but for what they say and do. rumsfeld said **** and thus he should go in my opinion.
and before bashing the cdu you should wait and see. so far i havent seen a reaction by any party in germany on the latest comments. when rumsfeld uttered his "old europe" comment, a lot of cdu politicians criticised him for that so get your facts straight before posting junk like that.
yes, the cdu ppl are all racist, poor foreigners and refugees. i dont remember any election campaign won by going against those ppl. immigration is a problem that needs to be controlled by some way. the position of the cdu on that is liberal compared to that of other parties in other european countries.
you are just suffering from the new german über-political correctness syndrom that is based on our history. boohoo we have to help ppl because we did bad things in the past and we are not allowed to think about ourselves first.

The CDU is run by a bunch of sick lying criminal people who have no respect for their political rivals, no respect for their government and no respect for anything but their own will for power.

no they didnt ww1 was one because the americans entered war. the french and brits couldnt beat the germans.
and ww2?? britain didnt save france . it was 80 percent the russians and 20% the americans.
the brits ran away with the french in 1941 as the germans conquered france.

Britain was vital in WW1 in keeping Germany from tearing France up, but ermm, WW2, well, Britain barely saved it's own 'ass' in that particular instance.

I'm not sure if britain was 'with it' from minute one (I'm talking WW1 here)

If I recall correctly they rushed to aid after the first french losses... But bringing elaborate cavalry assault tactics to a shoot-out wasn't really 'da bomb' so they needed 3,5 years to adjust their strategy, and at that time the US was pouring fresh troops in at a 4:1 ratio.

Oh yeah, I'm sure that the Soviets did practically win by themselves.

What I meant is that I was wondering what that had to do with us/America saving France. As far as I know, no Russian took a step inside France.
