According to my very irate, rather effemminate and very scottish boss this is happenning in Glasgow. (he saw it in the glasgow herald or something and was telling us all in disgust). They have decided you have to have a licence to have any Santas on public display, or for carol singing, or for any 'christmas' decorations. (I assume they mean things that really imply they are there for christmas, as opposed to a bit of crappy tinsel). This is all fine and dandy in theory, but it takes over 6 weeks to get a licence.

As for whether they have even realised that santa isnt really christian...

Im not sure how much saint nicholas really has to do with the plastic santa clauses that shops tend to feature.

Its not like the shops have the faintest interest in the whole religious aspect of christmas. Its a chance to make the parents give in to the whinging of their kids for more expensive things, rather than just a bar of chocolate and a can of coke.

I think Muslims are just jealous, because we get presents for our winter holiday, and they get to starve themselves for whatever their holiday is. Haj or something. Of course, Jews get a whole weeks worth of presents, which explains why Christians hate Jews.
I'm basing the above statements on RE lessons that happened several years ago, and which I never payed any attention to anyway, so chances are none of it is even true.

Muslims just had Eid last week, and they fasted while the sun was up for 30 days beforehand iirc. I asked one of my muslim friends what norwegian muslims do becuase the sun there is up for like a week solid and he said they get to eat during the times when the sun was down in Mecca and I was all like 'damn I thought I'd outsmarted you '

i dont get this you've linked to a forum (a crap forum btw) that doesnt appear to show any evidence to support its claims, i could create a thread saying nodrog was gay and claim i heard it from his secret boyfriend mrl but it wouldnt necesarrily be the truth now would it. The only xmas scenes is banned thing ive actually seen on the news is the red cross, and even then it was the decision of the red cross to ban it, not some muslims who turned up and shouted jihad against rudolph.


oh and funniest quote ever about xmas was last year on CNN when some chinese lady thought xmas was about santa, who was apparently this super hero type person that went around doing good in the world and putting wrongs to right
