MSN font colours
I think someone should do a psychological study to find out what font colours (and styles) on MSN can tell us about the person we're talking to.
For example, almost without exception, every guy on my MSN list just leaves it set to the default black MS Sans Serif. The exception is an incredibly vain mate of mine who has to be individualistic about everything so he's got some fancy font (still in black though).
However, every girl on it seems to use pink, purple or blue. Most of the time still the default font though.
Any thoughts?
And yes I am short of entertainment right now.

Re: MSN font colours
Damn you I just spent ages messaging everyone trying to find out what fonts they use. Mine were exactly like yours though, all the men except 1 used the default and he had changed it to grey and itallic.
He isn't particularly vain or anything but he is the youngest on my contact list by a fair bit(he is only 14) which might be why.
All the women then have changed the colour, font and/or size, usually making the writing larger and the colour something light such pink, yellow or the light blue.

Re: MSN font colours
Mine is set to the default MS Sans black but most of my mates use the gigantic fonts in maroon or dark blue.

Re: MSN font colours
Heh, we could eliminate the AOL kids yeliing "ASL?!?!!" at everyone by finding some nifty so-and-so to write a font-o-graphic analyser plugin that automatically says "You are talking to a 24 year old unemployed hobo pretending to be an 18 year old bodybuilder" or something.

Defenitely. Verdana is just great to read at small sizes.
I'm using ICQ anyway. Used to have a real old version and set everything to the ancient "grey on navy blue" dos editor style, ignoring other ppls fonts (or I think my 1999 version didn't support it). For my own pure entertainment that was. But I got readability-complaints from other people that got grey on white from me in newer versions, so I recently switched to said 10pt Verdana black!

Re: MSN font colours
The size makes no difference.
I've come the conclusion that people with names such as "Life, Life, where did u go, i ****ing sang for u life, life isnt living, life is believing, mother ****er" would also have purple or dark blue names.

An afterthought: any one who uses Comic Sans should be moulded in order that they look all round and curly - like the font.

If you're so dull that you need coloured font to make your conversation interesting you're probably not worth my time.

Not necessarily interesting. Just different from everyone elses'.
Usually when I see people using the standard settings it just smacks of laziness :\
Plus it's useful if you're in a conversation with >1 person....

Re: MSN font colours
I just change the colour so that my simple mind can work out who has said what. If both have the same font, I get confused sometimes. I'm simple like that.

Re: MSN font colours
I have discovered that people that have profound names like "(8)seeing isnt believing, living is u, world went wrong, **** the world, believe, dont see, u world(8)" usually have blue, bold and italic.
