Re: Channel 4 now
Kill Me If You Can
Channel 4 Tue Aug 23 10:00 PM
1 (65 min., Subtitledin English, United Kingdom, Magazine/Report/Documentary)
An attempted murder leads police to an extraordinary story of a spy ring and sinister orders from a seductive British Intelligence agent in the first film of Psycho, a new series that examines the dark pathology of the human mind through stories of bizarre criminal behaviour.
July 2003 and a 14-year-old boy, 'John', is the victim of a near-fatal stabbing in Altrincham near Manchester - his 16-year-old friend 'Mark' is the chief suspect. But why would a teenager who has never been in any trouble try to kill his best friend? An incredible story emerges of how Mark has been recruited as a British secret service agent - licensed to kill - by a a seductive 42-year-old spymistress called Janet Dobinson. She promises him sex and riches if he passes an initiation test: to kill his friend John. An average Manchester schoolboy is propelled into a world of espionage; his bland suburban surroundings become a landscape of mystery and intrigue. But in court, facing charges of attempted murder, Mark finally learns the truth as unlocked by the police criminal intelligence unit - Janet Dobinson and a host of other people he met on the internet are all fictitious characters invented by someone bent on manipulating his every move. Who would trick him into attempting murder?

A psychopath and a retard.
What a touching story <3
This is the kind of thing that annoys me actually - it just fuels the "omg the internet is evil!!" argument.

Re: Channel 4 now
It was the friend, wasn't it? The one he stabbed? Didn't he make up like 16 online personas? This was posted on here ages ago, I believe. The story, not the TV program :-)

Re: Channel 4 now
I remember when this happened. Its just unbelievable that ANYONE is that gullable. I mean the whole thing with the cyber g/f getting kidnapped, raped and murdered was bad enough. SURELY you would either tell the police or talk to an admin of the site who would check the ips and realise it was the same person!!
the secret agent thing was hilarious.
TomKat it didn't fuel the 'internet is evil' idea it meerly proved that some people are very stupid!

Re: Channel 4 now
I caught about 3/4ths of it, and I couldn't take my eyes away from the screen. It was one of the most bizzare criminal incidents I have ever comes across. (The QC himself said the whole thing was legally unique.)
It was incredible.

Re: Channel 4 now
John was convicted of inciting his own murder, and Mark was convicted of attempted murder. They only got nominal sentences, though. Neither of them was given a custodial sentence.

Re: Channel 4 now
It's incredible that Mark actually went along with it all. John got him to "perform a sex act on him", and then stab him.
Now, the sex act I can understand. But decieving someone by pretending that your a secret service agent, and then getting them to stab you?

i don't think the sex act occurred. I think the parents stopped that from happening.
