The only candidate I know from my constituency (Elliot Morley, Labour) is a fat dick face, and he has won the seat by midday.

He's also been around for donkey's years. I think he was Paymaster General or something in the Major government.

I'd classify myself as not having a party, used to be a Conservative but they lurched to the right

Lib Dems don't really 'do' it for me either. I expect I'll vote Conservative anyway just to try to reduce Labour's majority, their abuse of it this Parliament has been sickening.

Conservative: Come on you blues! Tax cuts, espcially in the areas of Inheritence Tax and Stamp Duty, are long overdue. Remove pointless speed camera, oh yes! Re-linking pensions to earnings is a good thing, even if it won't affect me for over 40 years, it will help my parents out who retire soon after a life of paying taxes and seeing little in return for it. Don't agree with their plans to block GM crop growing, standing in the way of progress due to the irrational fears of the uneducated masses, but oh well, you can't have it all.

Labour: They they screwed me while I was at university and now they kick me in the balls by giving my tax money to layabouts and mass breeders - if you want to have kids you should bloody be able to pay for them yourself, why the hell should I? ...and lets not forget that little illegal war they dragged us in to.

Lib Dems: Taxing me more is a big no thx and trying to get the illegals working in McDonalds to understand plain English is already annoying enough, I don't want to have the same problem everywhere if more of them are allow to work here!

And you do realise the tories supported the war as well?
And the only tax increase the lib dems are bringing in is for people earning over 100k a year.

No, because you don't fit my ethical profile on another level? Where does it stop? Should I refuse the help of anti-war Christians?

Respect have a lot of problems and I won't be voting for them (not registered) but I think you are being unfair.

Did they, well I wouldn't know because it was before my time, judging a party on things they did over a decade ago would make them all look as bad as each other. Recent history and current policies are all that's relevent, I'm not going to outright dismiss any party becuase they made an unpopular policy years before I was even born.

The support for the eventual ends of the war, the freedom of the Iraqi people from a tyrant, but not for the means that got us there. We were fed lies about a threat to our country from Iraq when there was no such threat, we went to war on a lie, a lie which made winning the trust of the Iraqi people much harder and no doubt one of the reasons there are still so many insurgents trying to kill our troops, they simply don't trust us.

I don't currently pay Council Tax, but I would no doubt have to pay their local Income Tax.

I am in Lancaster & Wyre.

In the last election Labour clinched the seat by 481 votes. However the MP is resigning and instead we have a woman running who I have NEVER heard of before. If Conservative did not win this seat I would be greatly surprised.

I am defiantly going to vote!

I am keeping up to speed with the Peter Snow election news alert. Peter show comes running onto my desktop to give me the latest.

My prediction for this election is that it will be close. It won’t be a landslide victory for any party. If I had to place my money somewhere I would bet that Blair will loose his majority and it becomes a hung parliament. Although don’t quote me on any of this.

Hague is not electable and never will be. He is far worse than IDS and Michael Howard. Oliver Letwin - where the hell is that from?!?!

Michael Portillo is the only Conservative MP I would ever consider voting for, unfortunately being a poor man i can't live in his area, or care for his politics.

I will Vote Labour or Lib Dem. Labour will clearly win the election. I would love to see two things happen in this election though - 1) Lib Dem win Michael Howards seat (he only got a 5000 majority in the last election) 2) Tony Blair lose Sedgefield to that Reg Keys(the father who lost his son in Iraq). Both of these are doubtful, but they would make a boring election have a couple of highlights.

People forget just how terrible Hague was. He was awful at handling the party, awful at strategy, awful at campaigning, and awful at presentation. The only thing he had a fair grip on was Commons oratory, which still counts for relatively little.

It's perverse and incredible that people can claim that Hague is electable, when he lead his party to one of it's worst electoral performances ever. After four years of opposition, the best Hague could do was increase his share of his party's seats in the Commons by a net gain of one. Let us remember that.

It's because of one of Hague's 'reforms' that the party was lumbered with that walking donkey Iain Duncan Smith, instead of someone eminently sensible for it, like Ken Clarke. (One of the really electable Tories, and a man who would probably be leading it to a sound victory atm if he had become leader after 2001.)

no Govt. can afford to re-link pensions to earnings, and expect to see civil servant and local govt. strikes straight after the elections when labour start trying to take them away from those groups as well

quite probably. Its not like the Conservatives have done anything to make themselves electable, except bang on about Daily Mail issues (immigration, Asylum Seekers) issues that only fool people who already vote Tory.

Ste - Lib Dems will not get in power. There is absolutely no chance at all. They perhaps have a chance at being the opposition party.
