Kerrang
My 13 year old daughter reads it now
She thinks its great. I read her copy and was shocked by how much its turned into a magazine for teenagers, Are there any decent metal mags for 'older' readers ?
And what the f'k have they done to Pandora ?

Depends on wich groups you like. Here in Norway we got special shops dedicated to Black Metal clothes/music and they also publish/sell special magazines.

I don't, hence my dislike for Kerrang, i'd rather find out for myself
I mean, wtf are Good Charlotte and why do they sound like old punk bands ? and why does that herbert from Metallica look like he should be in Lynyrd Skynyrd ?

Kerrang is the Good Charlotte/Linkin Park/Foo Fighters/Red Hot Chili Peppers repeat channel.
And I mean constant repeat.
Avoid at all costs, even if you like some of those bands, as you will grow to hate them.

you could try metal hammer, which (used to be, i dunno atm) better than kerrang.
or, depending on musical taste, you could try terroriser as well, although that seems to deal more with black/death/etc metal than anything else iirc.

Kerrang is only suitable for people between the ages of 11 and 17.

Hardly surprising, considering that is probably the entire musical range of half of all teenagers.

There was a copy of Kerrang downstairs (My sister reads it; she's one of these avril lavigne invented particle interactions kind of people [like nod!]).
I flicked to the reviews section, to see if they had a review of the new Muse album, Absolution.
They did not.
However, they did have a review of the new single, Time is Running Out.
They said it was pretty dire, and sounded like Radiohead.
As someone who listens to both bands in question, I can honestly say they're about as similar as Linkin Park and JS Bach.
The Distillers suck dude.

There's a North American metal magazine called 'Unrestrained' which is OK. Layout isn't all that good but they cover the important news and the right bands.
Reading such magazines helps one to stay up to date with new releases. Also good for discovering debuts.

You don't "need" it to tell you what's hot, but magazines are fairly useful to tell you "if you like Band X, you might also like Band Y".
Also some people (for whatever reason) like hearing stuff about their favourite artists. I'm not sure why, but it seems a fairly wide trend (see gossip mags, etc).

This is one of those weird situations where i find we think the same on something.
Personally i flick between MTV2, Kerrang and Scuzz (and on occassion The Amp).
Scuzz is best tho (lowest Good Charlotte %).

I personally wouldn't recommend watching any music video channel continuously as the replay rate is too high. I flick between Kerrang, MTV2, VH1 Classic and ocassionally Q when they aren't playing something **** (like that Destiny's Child / Nirvana mix, ffs)

There is something fundamentally wrong with Kerrang TV. IT should not have adverts for Sunny Delight (as well as not have videos by pop bands, Enema and pretty much every video less than 10 years old)

I prefer the amp of those 4.
Though the only really good music channel is VH1 Classic.
