Was I too sensitive?
I was having sunday dinner with my family, munching away quite happily on some rather delicious Lasange when my Mum casually asks my grandad: "Are you going back to the hospital to get your prostate problem sorted out?". At this point I stopped eating, put the fork down and sat back from the table totally disgusted. My mum and him then went on to discuss the problem (not in great detail but just the topic is pretty wrong for the dinner table situation when people are trying to eat). I then challanged my mother about bringing the topic up, saying that it was totally innapropriate dinner conversation etc, she told me that I was being too sensitive and continued to discuss the problem. I got up and left, and now im here posting on the internet about it. Was I being too sensitive or is it perfectly reasonable to object to having to listen to your grandads prostate problems?

Re: Was I too sensitive?
I think you were slightly over-sensitive, but it's fair enough a lot of people would feel the same way you did.

Re: Was I too sensitive?
Unless you have prostate problems yourself or they were specifically discussing bladder movements/sexual performance then no you were a bit sensitive.
They are probably wondering what made you so grumpy today, I'd usually intercept with the whole do you mind I'm eating before getting up and storming away before anything goes where I dont' want it.

Then you weren't being over sensitive.
Or as flavius suggested, perhaps add how you like it when your gf touches your prostate with your dildo.

If I was you I probably would have reacted the same way.
I have very bourgeois sensibilities

Re: Was I too sensitive?
I recently told my mother that the drink (some green fruit-milk stuff) she was having by her lunch looked like three week old lama snort and made snorting noises whenever she was sipping her drink.
Yes, you were being too sensitive.

Re: Was I too sensitive?
Well it wouldn't bother me but if you had asked them to stop and they still continued then I can understand you getting a bit upset. My mother and brother are easily put off food so I have often had to change the subject because they ask.

Re: Was I too sensitive?
Just lift your plate and go eat in the next room.
Although i get the impression from your actions that rather than being oversensitive, you just hate your parents and wanted to make a statement or something*
*ignore that last part unless you believe im a fully qualified child psychologist.

Re: Was I too sensitive?
I enjoy sunday dinner. Roast potatoes, gravy, beef, yorkshire pudding, fresh vegetables. A satisfying meal indeed. Plus it's better for your digestion if you sit while eating and talk to people as it regulates how fast you eat or something like that.

Re: Was I too sensitive?
It only happens if we're all there. It's not like everyone goes out of their way to be at home at eight o clock on a sunday night.

Re: Was I too sensitive?
I haven't had Sunday dinners in years I really like the roast meal though, I sometimes go to my friends house and have it midweek (for some reason he has his Sunday Roast on Wednesdays). Being a parasite is cool.
A joint family meal can be good, but basically any joint ritual serves the same sort of purpose.

Old people are unhygenic. They shouldn't be near food.

It was a bit much to talk about during dinner.
You probably shouldnt have stormed upstairs.
Just gone in another room or something.

Re: Was I too sensitive?
You stopped eating because your mum asked your grandad about his prostrate problem? Yes - you are too sensitive. It's part of life, it hardly is going to make you vomit your food back up is it?

Re: Was I too sensitive?
i would say you sound like a bit of a fanny (english)
talking about a prostate problem is not the same thing as discussing the rate at which carcasses rot at different temperatures, or the texture of your vomit last night after a dodgy prawn curry, or how loose your bowel movement was this morning
its a medical thing, would you have complained about it if they were talking about a broken ankle?
go and watch something gross on the television while eating trifle and toughen up you big girls blouse
