the Pixies
i travelled down south to good ol Seattle the other day to see the Pixies at Bumbershoot (a Seattle festival featuring tonnes of indie rock, art, film, comedy, literature ect ect... http://www.bumbershoot.com has a list of whats there if interested). its a 4 day festival and the reunited Pixies headlined the last night. Anyhow, it was about one of the best shows ive ever been to. they played non stop... just pounded away through their songs.

the set list was huge, intense, and the crowd loved it.... here are some pictures i took of them throughout... http://members.shaw.ca/joe_kabut/bumbershoot

if anyone has a chance to see the Pixies at any point on the rest of their tour, i definately recommend going.

OK, I am coming out of the closet. I have never ever heard a Pixies song that I know of. Still I consider myself as someone who enjoys quality music. I'll download some of 'm as soon as possible just to see what it's all about, what can I expect ?

You almost certainly have. Ever seen Fight Club? Think end of the film.

They're one of Nirvana's biggest influences. Kurt Cobain alleged once said "I should have been in a Pixies tribute band" or similar.

Plus if you've been to any rock club in the last fifteen years you'll probably have heard a couple of their songs. I remember going to a club in 1997 and then again this year, and they played the same Pixies song (Debaser) both times.

I can't really recall any song in Fight Club, and yeah, I hear Nirvana was hugely influenced by them. Thanks for information, will certainly check them out!

The Pixies are one of my favourite bands i've been telling everyone they are amazing for years. I missed out on seeing them at T in the park but really hope they do a UK tour soon so i can go see them(i'd pay hundreds heh) I went to see Frank Black and the Catholics in Edinburgh last year which was also really good, they only played 3 pixies songs then tho
