Re: 1up Vs eXilition
why is this been brought up again? Same debates all the time. which was better legion/fury. Which was better exi/1up. Who cares? I think we have done these debates to death. And why is this been brought up now when neither now exists? Might call me a grump but just dont see the humour or logic within it.

Re: 1up Vs eXilition
The "humour" (if you want to call it that) was that somebody mentioned in another thread how dead AD was, and somebody else suggested doing a post about exi/1up.
Mass failage by the AD community tbh.

Re: 1up Vs eXilition
Yeah anyway, back on topic. I always dreaded Exi incs because even if you got a wave covered, they just recalled and resent all night. Whereas I never thought 1up were so good in that respect. R18 in particular I did wonder if they ever ran out of fleet slots because I never got through on attack and rarely got my incs covered when one of their guys resent an attack. I dont think I would have been alone in feeling that :P 1up although a handful, there wasn't quite the same feeling if you got incs from them.

well you also mustn't forget to factor in the fact that eXi all used VNC and wallhacks...

Re: 1up Vs eXilition
Maybe they never lost because their opponents were all shit.
In fact, a case can be made for that being a reason why 1up is better. Until you see an alliance lose, you'll have a very hard time telling whether or not it's any good. eXi was good while it was winning. We haven't seen them perform as the underdog.

eXilition, without a doubt.
they simply dominated by pure military might and tactics, 1up controlled by fear...but i guess fear doesn't work on opposition who isn't scared of you

If 1up was a better alliance than eXi why did they lose every time they went up against eachother?

Re: 1up Vs eXilition
I'm not saying 1up is better than eXi. I'm fairly clueless in that respect (in before "not only in that respect"), since I only started playing PA during r15.

eXi. Having been in both, eXi just demanded that little bit more effort which made all the difference.

Re: 1up Vs eXilition
yes yes, we can talk all we want about which one is better, we've been doing it for 15 rounds or so; but, how about which one is worse?
exi had evhul vnc's, but 1up constantly took in reputed cheaters of the elviz sort.

Re: 1up Vs eXilition
elviz finds a new alliance willing to ignore his past every round, 1up is not unique in that respect.

elviz is such a nice and lovely guy though <3
oh, and he has a 0% -being closed ratio- while bping with me!
I clearly have a good influence on him. ( or u can interpret it like I taught him how to cheat without being caught. I m fine with either! )

Re: 1up Vs eXilition
I would have loved to see 1up at their best (r11-12) fight with Exi.
1up was probably at their peak in r11 coming fresh after a long break for Syn_sid.
Exi beat the crap out of 1up in all the rounds they met, but already in r13 when they clashed the first time, 1up was nowhere near what they were in
r11.
I have been in both alliances and the feeling was similar in both. Some call it arrogance, but I just think that players in those alliances rested in the knowledge that they were above average players.
From the proven track record, I would have to say exi, but I would still have loved to see them clash in r11.

Not really when it forced a return to old pathways.
I don't think anyone needs guess who I vote for.
The "1up" brand is currently doing the rounds of the WoW TCG UK community, we even hand out badges for our defeats and such.

this debate is pointless really because as far as im concerned, the only decent alliance out there, and the only alliance that deserves a mention on PA boards is ascendancy.

Sid was a part of 1up. You can't say "1up would have been better than eXi if Sid hadn't been in charge", because without Sid, there would have been no 1up. We can only look at the two alliances as they were and judge them based on that. Ignoring some parts of either alliance just so you can proclaim a winner more suited to your preference is nothing short of deluding yourself.

I didn't say that 1up would have been better than eXi without Sid. I was answering the reason that I felt 1up lost to eXi, and in my opinion it was because Sid was the leader, and unwilling to take 1up in the direction it needed to go in order to fight against eXi. It was his preference as the alliance founder to do that.
But on the flip side, I also believe that having Sid as a leader made 1up a better run alliance than any other.

Ok, in that case I apologize. I thought you were trying to say 1up was better, instead of clarifying why it wasn't.

Also the argument that Sid would frequently turn up 2/3 days before round starts when politics hand already been shaped in some form or another.

Stoom has only been hc of one of these alliances...

Bunch of scrubs we slapped about pre PA X no doubt.
1up R11 by a country mile, a lot of the ex Fury lot who had come out retirement for one last round to help Sid establish the alliance quit at the end. Desse hit the nail on the head I think

Re: 1up Vs eXilition
I'd probably say 1up at their best would have beaten exilition at their best 1 on 1. I usually favour that which preceded the other though. I mean you forget about it now but people used to live planetarion around r4-7 time.
