Dr. Atkins died Obese
So much for his diet!
http://www.guardian.co.uk/medicine/s...145410,00.html
He was 18 stone when he died!
Quote:
But Robert Atkins, pioneer of the controversial diet which bears his name, was clinically obese at the time of his death, a leaked medical report revealed yesterday.
Dr Atkins, who encouraged dieters to cut out carbohydrate in favour of protein, weighed in at 18 stone and four pounds when he slipped on an icy New York pavement last year.
Taking into account his height - 6ft - he would have scored 35 points under the calculation used across the world to define whether a person is fat.
A score of 25 would lead to a person being categorised as overweight. Over 30 is obese.
The report also revealed that Dr Atkins, who had followed his own diet for 39 years as well as inspiring celebrities including Brad Pitt and Geri Halliwell, had a history of heart problems.

Well, if it's bad for one person then it must be bad for everyone!

Re: Dr. Atkins died Obese
Col. Sanders died of leukaemia.
Those ****ing hot wings.
p.s he also died at 72 after following his diet for nearly 40 years so I'm thinking 'maybe something else was going on too'.

Re: Dr. Atkins died Obese
I'd advise you to consult a doctor on this one. He had a hereditary heart condition.
It's actually mentioned in that article (at the bottom of page 15 just after he calls the doctor who announced this a supporter of the atkins diet).
PS That said the Atkins diet is still crap but whatever.

Did the heart condition contribute to the fact that he slipped and fell?

Dr Atkins is an apologist for societal decay.

Re: Dr. Atkins died Obese
This 'medical report' was leaked by a front organization for PETA. His heart condition was virus-related, and his weight (which was gained all in his final months) was related to his sickness.
I honestly don't give a shit about the guy, but PETA pisses me off.

Damn hippies, maybe if they'd eaten more steak when they were kids they wouldn't have turned into such pissy little weaklings and had to form a social club against steak.

Re: Dr. Atkins died Obese
You mean BMI?
Go to a BMI calculator (Find one on google, I'm crap at googling and still found one), enter your weight and height and it'll tell you what your number is.
[EDIT: Damn you 1-X! I won't delete this post though, that would be silly]

Re: Dr. Atkins died Obese
Your weight is in the range that is classified as underweight. It could be that you eat a varied and well-balanced diet but are naturally very slim. If so, there is no need to change what you eat, except perhaps to eat more food and make sure you are getting all the energy and nutrients you need to stay healthy.

A unit of weight.
Not only does it have the metric version, but the conversion.
