i had to get around a "members only area". I had downloaded the page but it didnt seem to work in dreamweaver, but the code came up when i highlighted the button.
Code:
<SCRIPT>
function passWord() {
var testV = 1;
var pass1 = prompt('Please enter the password',' ');
while (testV < 3) {
if (!pass1)
history.go(-1);
if (pass1.toLowerCase() == "success") {
alert('Thank you, Welcome to blah');
window.open('data.html');
break;
}
testV+=1;
var pass1 =
prompt('Access Denied - Password Incorrect, Please Try Again.','Password');
}
if (pass1.toLowerCase()!="password" & testV ==3)
history.go(-1);
return " ";
}
</SCRIPT>
So basically i just had to type in the url with data.html at the end.

There's no such thing as 'html source code'.

or enter the password "success"
People who secure their site this way should be shot in the face.... with bullets, cum and a freighttrain... simultaneously.

There's also sites which actually manage to encrypt their source code. Highly nasty, although you can still get around it with Mozilla.

That's even more true.
I recently came accross one of these "humour pics" sites, and they prevented people from saving the pics and looking in the code with this "no right-click" javascript. Now, I wanted this picture and I looked it up in the source without having to click, but why protect it like that? I mean, if someone wants that picture or source he WILL get it!

Protecting code is not only stupid, it's also impossible.

That's not image protection, that's bandwidth protection.
