List!
Everyone knows lists are fun.
So I want you to list this schnizzle fo' me!
Three songs that you would want played at your funeral.
They could just be songs that you liked, or had meaning for you, or whatever.
I want to see some other people's before posting mine.

Re: List!
It'll probably be My Way because I've always seen orignality as a weakness.
Also, Flower (by Eels) because it's quite haunting, Lazy or Lower (by NOFX) because I like their message(s). Hopefully I'll be crazy before I die so hopefully I go for something terribly self-aggrandising of which the general message will be "I was so awesome, you were so shit, I was embarrassed by you all, etc, etc...".

Re: List!
Scarily I was thinking of this the other day
Gone Away - Offspring
Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) - Green Day (yeh it was on ER so what)
Somewhere a Clock is Ticking - Snow Patrol (I think it's that song, i'll check when I get home)

Re: List!
Flight of the Valkyries as I am being cremated.
It also amuses me to think of everyone singing Ha Ha Your dead by Green Day.
Then Bright Eyes by Art Garfunkel to finish up.

Re: List!
My grandma had 'In My Life' by the Beatles played at hers, that struck a chord. I really don't know what I'd choose for me though.

Let's Stay Together - Al Green
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
Over the Rainbow - Eva Cassidy
I may rethink the first one and third one though.
maybe Beautiful Day by U2 or Heartbeats by José González so people will feel happy. although i guess they'll be sad either way, so maybe i could go ultra depressing!

Re: List!
i often thought about this. "what music would i want on my funeral; what song would describe my life best, what song would 'touch' them?"
in the end i don't think i'd want any music at all though, because i think the problem is that music i enjoy, doesn't mean they enjoy it too. at my granddad's funeral 2 years ago, i remember i hated the music-bits most, because it was music we picked and because it really didn't add anything to it all. it's just listening to pretty songs together, in silence.
my funeral shall be short.

Re: List!
Theamion's funeral would be shit then!
Like midge, I'd probably put Bright Eyes in there (Art Garfunkel).
Then probably "Space Oddity" (goodbye major tom?! come ON!)
Third I'm not sure - something slow by the Levellers maybe. Most of their slow music seems to be kind of angry-against-the-state music though.

Re: List!
Queen - Another One Bites the Dust (Suprised it hasnt been mentioned yet...)
Micheal jackson - Thriller (Gives the impression id come back alive as a zombie)
HIM - Buried Alive By Love (Well...gives the impression i was Buried Alive)
POD - I feel so alive (Not because i like it, but because it fits )
Morrissey - You have killed me (It will make everyone feel so awkward lollerz)
Oasis - Live Forever (For irony's sake)
But seriously id have an Oasis track in there, one of the earlier ones though, Wonderwall or Dont Look Back in Anger. Maybe a Chilli peppers tune and the other i really dont know...

these are all "if I die today" songs, but the reality is you're probably not going to want them in 50+* years when you do die

It's very hard to predict what you'll want played at your funeral in 50 years time. But if I die tomorrow, those songs are what I want to be played.

I wouldnt to make what would already be a sad occasion sadder, so i'd probably opt for Ernie (The Fastest Milkman in the West), then as people were leaving finish with a little Wham - Wake me up before you go go.

Re: List!
The International (I assume there would be enough commies attending to make it into a real sing-along hit!)
one or more songs by R.E.M
Most likely: I've been high, from Reveal and Nightswimming from Automatic for the People. Nightswimming would couse my mother to cry if she isnt doing that already by that stage.
Stalin, Freund, Genosse -to have fun with my father (he is a stalinist, and I mock Stalin just to have fun at him sometimes).
Gategutt -a song after a poem by a famous norwegian poet.
