I didn't even know we had a local soccer team, and an actual professional soccer league (Major League Soccer) for that matter, until the Beckham deal.

It's an outrageous amount of investment for a sport or a league that the average American doesn't really care for that much.

I'm guessing our professional soccer league here is about as good as you guys' college football leagues. Maybe he's going for the "easy money".
