I think Defoe could have the kind of impact that Owen had in France. Vassel is never going to do that.
Rooney is pretty proven, given he's now got 16 caps.

At France 98, Owen gave us something we didn't have: a striker with pace.

Pray tell, what does Defoe bring to the side that we haven't got?
