thats a scot, as demonstrated by "lad" , "yer" , but mostly the "troosers"
generally, i find americans to be more upfront then the english. scots will gladly tell you when youve screwed up somewhere with zeal, and probably poke a joke at you for a week or so depending on the significance of the cockup

despise isnt the best word to describe it. "friendly rivalry" would be better. banter, etc.
its the same deal between scots and english, and the english and french, and english and germans ( especially when sports are involved )
