So if things carry on that way and the population of Iraq is 25 million with 600,000 having been killed in 3 years that means that if we "stay the course" for another 40 years we'll win outright. If 2809 US soldiers have been killed so far then America will only have to lose 112360 soldiers to get it's hands on proven oil reserves of 200 billion barrels, at todays prices ($70 ?) worth $14 trillion which is ~$120 million per causality.
