Re: [football] league #3 - starts saturday 27th

I only mentioned it in a "there'll be a new alternative to PPG next season" type way, though it is a resurrection of something I did for a while back in the first season.

It might not be the finished formula, but I hope it will replace PPG as the 'big table' for those that don't play often enough to contend in the 'endurance' league of total points for the season.

The basic letters mean "relative to average" and it's an adjusted PPG where the average score for a league would get a PPG equivalent of 1 rather than the usual 0.7 which meant those who predicted most games had unfairly low PPGs after a time.

example 1 : roadrunner
Code:
league	aver	rr_0	rta

#1	38.5	39	1.01
#mini	23.8	27	1.13
#2	46.9	50	1.07
			----
			1.23
see above where you score slightly above average for each of the 3 leagues so far, so your RTA is above 1 (which is the average)

example 2 : kurashima
Code:
league	aver	kura adj	rta

#1	39	21 (29/54)	39	1.00
#mini	23.8	24 --	1.01
#2	46.9	20 (32/55)	35	0.74
					----
					0.75
This example is more complicated because Kura only predicted parts of two leagues. I compare his score for those leagues to everyone's average for those games only, and then resize the 'adj' score accordingly.

Where he scored 21 in league 1, the average for those 29 games was also 21, so he gets an rta of 1 for that league.

-------------------------

EDIT Instead of multiplying the rta for each league (as above), maybe I should be adding them together and then dividing by the number of leagues.

In the examples, this would make roadrunner down to 1.07, but kura up to 0.916. It's probably fairer.

Code:
		PPG new RTA
midge5 0.921	1.152
Zharkov 0.850	1.094
JC 0.850	1.080
roadrunner	0.829	1.071
Blastoderm	0.814	1.068
sniborp 0.786	1.049
LHC 0.835	1.045
Lupin 0.807	1.036
Apothos 0.800	1.027
1-X 0.793	0.997
Phang 0.786	0.996
Androme2	0.685	0.987
Ste 0.756	0.982
Deffeh 0.770	0.967
KoeN 0.743	0.923
All Systems Go	0.736	0.919
Dace 0.577	0.918
Kurashima	0.707	0.916
furball 0.693	0.895
Phalon 0.643	0.876
SYMM 0.596	0.847
