Are we wactching the same person? In respone to original post his tackling isnt up there but i dont think ive seen anyone make more short passes in middle of park in premiership than carrick. Ball retention is what its all about these days at the top flight and carrick aids united to do this a lot. He is one of those players that can turn defnce into attck with one swif low pass. He can pass long when he needs to as well. And have u noticed the direction and weight on his passes? the are 9/10 played into great channels and are 9/10 brilliant weight. I would say hes on par with fabregas tbh. But add some more tackling and finishing and ur looking at the next gerrard/lampard.
