Re: The Most Dangerous Jobs in the World

1 Timber Cutter (Lumber Jacks Tree Surgeons) 117.8 in every 100,000
2 Fishermen 71.1 in every 100,000
3 Pilots and Navigators 69.8 in every 100,000
4 Structural Steel workers (High Rise construction) 58.2 per 100,000
5 Delivery Drivers and sales staff (high incidence of mugging increases fatality rate) 37.9 in every 100,000
6 Roofers 37 in every 100,000
7 Electrical power installers (HV Pylons overhead cables) 32.5 in every 100,000
8 Farm occupations 28 in every 100,000
9 Construction Labourors 27.7 in every 100,000
10 Truck Drivers 25.0 in every 100,000

All figures are per annum based on the 2002 survey results put out by the Bureau of Labor Statistics in America.

In terms of sheer numbers, more truck drivers --- 808 –--died on the job than any other vocation in the top ten. But because there are so many truckers, their fatality rate is only 25 per 100,000
