He's good in central midfield for Bayern Munich playing in the holding role from start to finish. Not a half as right back followed by a role in central midfield when he comes on but from the beginning of a game, to the end. The fact is he can never prove his worth because he doesn't play for Real or in the Premiership but how anyone can expect a defensive midfielder to make an 'impact' coming off the bench is beyond me. It's like expecting Makelele (who is a superior player, don't get me wrong) to come off the bench to change a game, it just won't happen. Hargreaves is in the squad because he can play pretty much anywhere except up front.

MrL was spot on, Beckham was dire, his one job is to delivery good balls into the box. He failed 99% of the time, and there isnt a hope in hell a decent team is going to give him enough chances to get it right in the knockout stage!

Bye bye Beckham, ola Lennon!
Who supplied the majority of the goals against Jamaica?

Who supplied the goal v Paraguay?

Who got 2 assists yesterday?

Who is our main source of goals?

Answers on a postcard.

Lennon is a good player but the fact is we have Dave. I just wish he was left footed so we could get rid of Joe Cole who despite looking great is actually the greediest most wasteful player of them all in the England squad.

its a numbers game with Beckham, if you give enough opportunities to cross to any player they will eventually get one right.
Well then it's up to the player and not dave, who credit to him has proved me wrong by stopping being a fancy dan and doing what he does best - cross the ball on several occasions putting defenders under pressure and creating chances - Lampard and Crouch (who chances aside was impressive) were absolutely wasteful yesterday.

The fact is this is the knuckledraggers stage of the competition and like Brazil we're doing it the ugly way. The only criticism you can really level at England is that we never go for a second when we score early and defend too deep when keeping possession up the pitch with 2 or 3 men back is the order of the day. We don't have to dismantle teams because quite frankly Sweden aside they offer **** all up front and when we come up against teams who will have a go at us, then we can truly be in a position to judge how good England are. No one knows yet.
