It may not be in the interests of the capitalist/employer to deliberately kill their employees, no. But capitalism does force onto the employer constant pressure to dig to the bottom; to increasingly put their workers at risk in order to remain competitive. The example you gave above is where it leads. And it can go further. The reason why it hasn't is because of the OMG ANTI FREE MARKET law that says it isn't allowed to.

In your second sentence you suggest this wouldn't happen if capitalism were "working correctly". Why do you think capitalism is not working in this case?
