Nevertheless, our assault on Imp has hardly been a sparkling success. We would have been better off waiting and keeping the door of a grand coalition open as long as possible.
We would have lost nothing while keeping options open, if Imp was bound to join App so we attacked them a week later, how much worse for us would it be? Even if its a very remote possibility that they would see sense and joined us we should have left things ready for that because now we are well and truly stuck.
