On topic however, yeah prices can be varied place to place. I went to a bar/club very much like what you described multi-tiered with different bars. Even worse though, you goto one section the beer was one price, you goto another section for the same beer and it's a different price.
Oh, and the price must me a pommy thing. We have three main bars in town, one of them is done up as a English themed pub called The Firkin' Hound. They have the most expensive beer out of the three, almost three times what you pay at the other joints.
