I would have to disagree with you there.
ND'a political environment was always going to be hostile / in negative equity this rnd. Nox siding with ND would in no doubt would have improved our situation and may be given the universe a bit of balance / chance for competition for the No 1 slot. You siding with Denial against ND there was only ever going to be one outcome.
The rest is history, no other alliances took it upon themselves to see that there was an opportunity to form their own little "Block" and have a crack at Denial/Nox and go for the No1 slot.
