Well I'm guessing you'll be getting a little more negative rep from this thread.

Ok 1st off, I don't think it's just in Europe that Americans are despised, it's everywhere.
I'm Canadian & trust me, we hate you too.

Why are Americans despised?
It's a combination of American ignorance of the rest of the world, American arrogance & the foreign policies that are spawned as a result of that strange combination of ignorance & arrogance.
