This cost analysis assumes someone is buying a PC to play games though - that's probably only true for a minority of people. Most people these days will want a PC of some kind for study/internet/work and the like. So you're probably going to spend upto $300/$400 for a PC to run modern Windows/Office and the like anyway - why not spend $300 or so more to get a decent graphics card and maybe some more RAM which would leave you with a machine with decent contemporary games and by the far best back catalogue of games available.
