I think he means that freebies can't finish the ETA branch, which means that when someone has eta 8 Fr inc, vipers out of tag won't be able to make it for that ETA, as I think ETA research is limited...

Wakey has a point. Orbit aren't playing the game the best they can. They're going to do poorly in the long run if they keep up that attacking pattern, and they're likely to help other players quit...

It does though. EMP neutralises a lot more of a target's defence than killing does. Just temporarily of course. But on the defensive, EMP can easily be outmaneuvred with a little bit of forethought...

I think the sheer size of the Roman army was one of the reasons for its decline. Able-bodied men spent so little time at home, doing normal jobs like farming etc that the empire began to decline...

No, I think he meant having SK's as another class to pods, not a class on its own. Obviously zik would have to be an exception, but terrans could have SK's as cruisers, for example.

We got more incs after we merged? Didn't look like that to me... maybe a tiny little bit more. But defense was much easier... so how is/was this a bad thing for us?

Actually, merging like this is in the rules, and is done more often than you might think. I know of alliances in the top 20 which have merged in several instances this round.

Not entirely sure what the point of this is, beyond 'it would be interesting' and allegedly more realistic. Sure you could split up the research trees of each race to make them more effective v one...
