they are so so much better than they were not long ago.
But I think an amnesty on accounts would be good, unban the banned and email them telling them so. it could be fun.

Maybe they could approach big companies and ask them if they'd like to sponsor individual posts/posters, then they can use the revenue generated to pay more good posters to post here.

Bah...what the hell is missing from this forum.

Maybe its like a long term marrige. After a while the thrill is gone, you start to look at other forums on the internet but would never dare post.
Your beloved forum then starts to get more strict and authoritive the longer you are together, nagging you, not allowing you to do things you used to be able to do.
You dont see some friends anymore, they left cause of the forums being too harsh, annoying or boring when they were around. Some friends you never see because your Forum have banned you from seeing them ever again.
You could always meet them somewhere else without the forums knowing but you dont like the sneaking around and having to track down these friends.
So you just idle along, long ago the spark has dissapeared, you never really talk about anything new or interesing . It's always the same old thing.
So one day you happen to meet a new forum, a younger forum, with perky colour schemes and an aimable manner. This forum is interested in you and what you think. You never get abuse here. So you continue your interest from afar, always staying faithful until that one day you just break and you post a flurry of thread and replys on your new acquaintance.
Its fun, its dangerous and soon you dont mind coming back to the same old drab grey forums, but after a while you see what you are tied down to and ,since you've never creates little forums of your own, you decide to leave for your fancy-forum forever.

You missed my point.

Users here are preferring to critique the user rather than contest the post if they bare some ill feeling towards someone they don't consider inside their social circle cause they don't meet whatever standards they have set to protect their fragile ego.

So yah it's your fault and many others, those who desire to attack a post by attacking the user in person rather than the content of the post is what has gone awry with this forum.

i think its more that its more fun to attack the poster.

+ many of us dont consider posts by certain users worthy of our critique, when you already have 100 times they arent going to get the message if you try again.

I think you're wrong Sunday, and i think i'm an example why. Im not in anybodys clique, not even remotely. I've argued with almost everybody here. Usually over very little. Ive been nasty, horrible, presumptious, dismissive. I'm fairly confident if i argued with me, i'd hate me.

But im still here and still happy about it because this forum works on a basis of mutual respect outwith threads. Take Deepflow for example. Me and henry dont agree on drugs and drug usage, drug glorification, smokers rights etc - the debate was pretty heated. But we dont hound each other in other threads because you "just dont do that". Hes a perfectly nice fellow. (But if he tries to smoke next to me when im having a pub lunch ill knock his head off \o/). Or Dante. I think hes a crazy ****ing liberal and i cant contemplate his faith in human judgement. And have told him so. And hes accused me of being a conservative, which hurt, a lot. But hes still one of my favourite posters.

The "cliques" as you put them are so small and insignificant that i think they are better known as "friendships". Even then they arent exclusive..

But before you go accusing people of "picking on people rather than arguments" you might want to look at the amount of people you try and start on yourself.

I usually Retort, I'm always amicaible and non biased to start with.

I usually only go down that route when the best someone can come up with to replying me is, you should be banned or some attempted personal insult.

Which is all too often unfortunately.

Sometimes Deffeh these threads are made to poke fun at people.

What we are criticising is that regular threads that aren't deliberately made to poke fun at people no longer work cause it just turns into crap through people attacking the users rather than the post, or in the case of jakiri/phang/animated tv dunces derail topics with BLINDINGLY relevant quotes from cartoons or summit......

normally amicable. but non biased? dont be stupid, no one in the world is non biased.

and the anger and personal insults often come as some find your opinions highly distasteful and insulting.

personally i dont mind that, I dont think most regular threads get derailed, now and again, but by no means all the time. saying that they 'no longer work' is a bit stupid. I dont mind all these things you are mentioning by the way, if you think its such a bad thing you can leave yknow. Its not 'up to you' to make these forums work better than they are, especially when a lot of people think they are a pretty good place to begin with.

I find some people's tastes disgusting and insulting (like your wanton abuse of Class-a drugs) but I certainly don't sit there and insist you are banned for having them.
