Songs that never get old.

Everyone's got some. You know, the ones you could listen to a dozen times in a row, twice a day, for a month, without getting sick of them in the slightest. Things which are fairly close to anthems for you.

I'll start;

Peter, Bjorn and John - Young Folks
Patrick Wolf - Overture
The Prodigy - You'll Be Under My Wheels
The Smiths - Sweet and Tender Hooligan

are some of the ones that immediately spring to mind. You next :)

Re: Songs that never get old.

Bach- Air on the G-string.
Explosions in the Sky - The Birth and Death of Day.
Madrugada - Majesty.
Pachelbel (sp?) - Canon in D.
Pink Floyd - Time / Comfortably Numb / Shine on you crazy diamond / Wish you were here.
Porcupine Tree - Trains.
Postgirobygget - Idyll.
Alice Deejay - Better off alone (Yeah, I'm serious. I like 90's house, and it doesn't bother me at all).

Quick scan of the mind at 7:50 am before lecture, there are probably a lot more. I don't quite know what appeals so to me in these songs, but most of them have fond memories connected to them (Better off alone and Idyll especially so). I'd write a bit more about my choices, but I'm unsure if that's what you actually wanted me to write. I hadn't thought much about this and found it interesting, so I'll check on it later and see if I have something more to add.

Edit:

Yes, that was a dire typo right there.

Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight Tonight
Pixies - The Happening
Radiohead - Climbing up the Walls
Pearl Jam - Release
Pink Floyd - High Hopes
The Smiths - That joke isn't funny any more/ Stop me if you think you've heard this one before

I don't really get tired of any of these.

Sasha - Xpander
High Constrast - Racing Green
Morrissey - How Soon Is Now

My musical taste is all over the damn place, but these are at least three tunes that I've left on repeat for days at a time while working.

I have a high tolerance for repetition in the short to medium term, so I end up listening to most songs I quite like hundreds and hundreds of times, sometimes in a row.

But songs I have heard well over 300 times and still adore :

Come As You Are - Nirvana
End of the Century - Blur
Masterplan - Oasis
Flower - Eels
Hurt - Johnny Cash (cover).
Beloved - VNV Nation
Waiting for the Great Leap Forward - Billy Bragg
Adam's Song - Blink 182
9 to 5 - Dolly Parton
Brain Stew - Green Day
Basket Case - Green Day
Lori Meyers - NOFX
The Brews - NOFX
(actually, most of NOFX's songs)

I can tell that I am old as I can't tell which are the song titles and which are the artists for the most part.

To be fair, quite a few British/european bands have been mentioned so you are, to some extent, excused.

Serge Gainbrough - Psychastenie
DJ Shadow - Napalm/Brain Scatter, You Can't Go Home Again
Aphex Twin - FenixFunk5, Pretty much all of Come To Daddy and the last 4 tracks on Drukqs

I didn't know she'd even written this song. I have her most recent album "Speak For Yourself", it's brilliant.
