SATA Data Connector = Shit
Ok. The connector on my WD SATA-II drive broke off my drive. Such a flimsy piece of shit. Unfortunately for me it broke off and got stuck into the cable connector. I looked online in a state of ZOMG and I found it's a common problem. I broke off the connector off an old sata drive I don't use anymore and put this inside the old sata cable I used for it and have carefully managed to bend the pins and re-connect this modified cable... BUT.. it's so insecure I've had to selotape it into place.
So my question is, what can I do to prevent this happening in the future and does anyone have any links to tutorials on how to replace 'controller boards' that some people have talked about. Thanks for the help. |
Re: SATA Data Connector = Shit
This drive is no longer under Warranty? I'd try to get it RMA'd

Re: SATA Data Connector = Shit
I managed to rip out a SATA connector from my motherboard. :(
Had to take the motherboard out to add a new heatsink, was pulling all the cables out but didn't unclip the connector for the SATA drive. My motherboard now has 5 SATA slots instead of 6. :( |
