I didn't split this one up because there's no obvious place to do so. If it's too much for you in one go, just leave some blank and come back to it. Opinions welcome on the number of european games I've been putting in. If you had to decide a percentage of them for a league, what's an acceptable max? It's roughly 33% in this one which I admit is somewhat high. |

Most of them are games where people will put the big team they've heard of to beat the little one they haven't, leaving the opportunity for someone who does a bit of research/knows their stuff to try and get some longshots. Anyway, What I'm looking at for september, as a 'system' 2 leagues per month, 50-60 games per league

that system seems to work for me, however, can i suggest 2 threads - 1 per league, so that people (like me - i admit to being an idiot) don't get confused about which they have and haven't done

Ones between 2 well-known teams or later in the season ones between top 3/4 teams as well... |

the way i see it you have possibly 3 different types of predictors:
1) those that know what they are talking about, the follow football, and know most of the teams that we see in the leagues, the ones they dont know, they will go and have a glance at whichever domestic league to see what they are like. 2) those that sort of know a bit, they know all the big names and can make fairly decent predictions, and i suspect that this group makes up the greatest amount of the regular predictors 3) those that guess, fair enough, they have heard of the big teams, so their guesses may be biased, but if they havent heard of the teams, then its a straight guess as to who will win. the problem with adding too many games of leagues (like various foreign domestic leagues, or even scottish division 2) is that you benefit groups 1 and 3 to the detriment of group 2, and is its still meant to be fun, i dont think that this would be overly fair. |

I only mentioned it in a "there'll be a new alternative to PPG next season" type way, though it is a resurrection of something I did for a while back in the first season.
It might not be the finished formula, but I hope it will replace PPG as the 'big table' for those that don't play often enough to contend in the 'endurance' league of total points for the season. The basic letters mean "relative to average" and it's an adjusted PPG where the average score for a league would get a PPG equivalent of 1 rather than the usual 0.7 which meant those who predicted most games had unfairly low PPGs after a time. example 1 : roadrunner Code:

league aver kura adj rta Where he scored 21 in league 1, the average for those 29 games was also 21, so he gets an rta of 1 for that league. ------------------------- EDIT Instead of multiplying the rta for each league (as above), maybe I should be adding them together and then dividing by the number of leagues. In the examples, this would make roadrunner down to 1.07, but kura up to 0.916. It's probably fairer. Code:
