SATA Data Connector = Shit

Ok. The connector on my WD SATA-II drive broke off my drive. Such a flimsy piece of shit. Unfortunately for me it broke off and got stuck into the cable connector. I looked online in a state of ZOMG and I found it's a common problem. I broke off the connector off an old sata drive I don't use anymore and put this inside the old sata cable I used for it and have carefully managed to bend the pins and re-connect this modified cable... BUT.. it's so insecure I've had to selotape it into place.

So my question is, what can I do to prevent this happening in the future and does anyone have any links to tutorials on how to replace 'controller boards' that some people have talked about.

Thanks for the help.

This drive is no longer under Warranty? I'd try to get it RMA'd

I managed to rip out a SATA connector from my motherboard. :(

Had to take the motherboard out to add a new heatsink, was pulling all the cables out but didn't unclip the connector for the SATA drive. My motherboard now has 5 SATA slots instead of 6. :(
