Vista & Partitions

OK. I've just nabbed a free OEM Vista disc off my manufacturer (Cyberpower) and they said that I should partition one of my hard-drives to make sure everything runs ok before replacing Windows XP itself.

Here is my current setup:

C:\ (Disk 1) - Windows XP

D:\ (Disk 2) - All my files
K:\ (Disk 2) - Vista

My 2nd disk has been partitioned because I was worried partitioning my first drive and putting Vista on the same drive would cause problems. Now I'm happy with everything and I want to know if I can somehow move my Vista partition to be written over to C:\ and the first disk and thus, replacing Windows XP completely AND resizing my 2nd disk - drive D to be the full size of the drive again.

Partition Magic doesn't seem to work with Vista so I'm not sure how I can do this. If I booted into Windows XP, does anyone know if PM8 can do what I want to do above?

Thanks for any help.

Basically, no.
In all likelyhood Vista will have a fit because it's no longer on the drive it thinks it's on and the partition table has changed. You can try as you don't exactly lose anything if it doesn't work, but I wouldn't expect it to be sucessful.

You're probably going to have to reinstall it.

Ok - is there anyway to 'copy over' all the settings and customisation I've set throughought Vista? Thanks.

Ok it seems Vista has inbuilt partition tool that will do the above apart from move Vista to another drive.

I just bought a raptor drive so want to move Vista to that but I'm having problems finding a 'good' program that will allow me to move it. Do I need to create a disk image of my current Vista logical drive and then have it 'open up' or whatever on my new raptor drive?
