Abit Kx7333r

Hello again, does anyone have experience with the KX7333 Raid mobo and the Athlon XP2200?

After sending back a dud processor some 4 weeks ago, I've just received the replacements back from Scan. They claimed the mobo was fine (got a display with a PCI GFX card) and that the 512mb memory was also fine. The CPU was ofc knackered.

Have the following specs:

The above CPU and mobo
MSI GF4 Ti4200 (64mb)
80gb WD Caviar HDD
Pioneer 16x DVD
SB Live S/C
512mb Seitec DDR PC2700

The problem:

The S.O.B simply will not POST at all. Tried it in the tower, out the tower, with cards, without cards, with memory etc.

Not one problem with installing the HSF or anything else and the connections are all fine. Simply can't understand why it won't work. The board supports the 2200 processor which was my original worry.

Please help, I hate this P2 233 I'm on so much I want to throw it at someone :)

Ta, Syph0n.

does it need a bios update?

It should work with just the board, CPU + HSF, graphics card, memory. Plus you'll need to plug in power to the motherboard, and the power switch and speaker leads from the case. With all that gear in, you should at least get some kind of response from it, either via the BIOS screen or a beep warning.

If you don't get anything, try resetting the CMOS - remember you have to unplug all power to the motherboard first (if the computer is off but the PSU on it is still getting 5V passed through it). If that fails, the motherboard is dead.

Well I tried all that the last time I had the parts, but we couldn't solve the problem. It was assumed the board was knackered, but Scan wanted memory, CPU and mobo returned. Only the processor was duff, so the mobo SHOULD be fine. I don't know if I trust their judgement on this one.

Anyway, bundling it off to some AMD specialists, hopefully they should get it up and running :(
