broadband

one of those monthly "what's the best broadband service" threads this time by moi

i'm on tiscali atm. and it sucks tbh. speeds are horrendous and the constant FUP keeps popping up which is very annoying

i cannot get ntl/telewest/homechoice so that leaves me with standard adsl services

apparently i can get (up to) 24mb for £24 from bethere -OR- 22mb for £29.99 from ukonline

apparently bethere will only d/c me if fup keeps coming up - although uknoline may terminate contract where as tiscali said they never will (and have never done so)

help please thanks

Re: broadband

How much data are you shifting a month, roughly? I'm with Demon at the mo which has actually been pretty good (contrary to my earlier beliefs) but that's subject to a FUP (fair-use policy for anyone who's wondering what the ****).

I used to like Nildram's policy; a 50gig cap between 8am and midnight and uncapped between midnight and 8am (when most of my dl'ing's done anyway). I never came close to the 50gig. You also get that 50gig almost like air-time credit; it carries over from the last month so you can in a single month get 100gig down the pipe and not fall foul of them.

Re: broadband

average traffic is 60-80GB in a month - it's not just me though, my sister and my dad contribute a lot to this total every month

also, it'll be more if my hard-drive f's up and i re-download all my data - i've got online storage space aprox. 233gb big so rather than buy a hard-drive i just pay for it being stored - saves me space as well - that's added bandwidth

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ for reviews and comparisons.

http://www.samknows.com/broadband/ as it will show you which companies are available in your area.

When my contract with Pipex is up I am going to move over to bethere. Seems ok and most of the reviews I have read are positive.
