This is the sort of thing that I dreamed about as a small child while waiting for games to load off tape on my zx spectrum.

Keep an eye out for Metroid and Mario kart - i would buy it just for those alone.

I'm not keen on handhelds... I want a console :(

Nintendo may be overly strict with what they allow to be made on their console (sure, PS2 has loads of games - but most of them are shit) but they are very good at revolutionary stuff that other consoles copy. Guns? First on the original Nintendo system. Shoulder pads? First on the SNES. Joysticks/Analogue sticks? N64. Now they've brought out the weird touchpad pen thing - I wonder when Sony will copy them.

Assuming you meant to say "young", I feel I should point out that I have reached the grand old age of 25, even though I realise that is something that one shouldn't readily admit to.

It's sad to see so many of you people not openly weeping with joy at the prospect of holding one of Nintendo's new toys. Nintendo have proved beyond measure that they are the masters of handheld gaming, and I can't believe that some of you are so jaded as to not get excited by it (yes you Nod).

Anyway, I'm going home now, and probably won't be online for the rest of today.

$150 translates to approx. £100 after you account for VAT and the usual rip-off Britain price hikes.
On the other hand, Sony are pitching the PSP at $200 (approx £135) so its pretty close. Ignore the PSP price stated in that article, it is flatly contradicted in a much later article available here.
It'll be interesting to see who gets to market first, and with what games.
