Monitor
I have a 17" CRT monitor, but it's too big. I don't use it for games, only watching TV shows and the such although since I've moved house I've not used it to see if it's ok.
I'm going to get a 17" flatscreen as that has been ok so far. I'm looking for the cheapest one I can find, but if it's really useless I'm willing to spend a little more. Atm I'm looking at this one because it's really cheap. Is it any good and does anyone know of a place I can get them even cheaper? Also, I have a 17" CRT monitor I don't want and don't know what to do with. Not sure anyone will want to buy it but it works fine and I don't really want to throw it away. Thanks. |
Re: Monitor
i did see this one
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/150313 bit wider and a tenner more reviews are here http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4z21 i dont know a great deal about monitors but i always assume the people who leave reviews have at least a basic understanding |
Re: Monitor
Keep in mind that 17" flatscreens generally have more visible surface area than 17" CRT screens. As such I'd say that if you're happy with your current display size, I wouldn't bother going for 19". Your best bet is probably going to a few computer stores and ask for help. Careful though, or you'll end up going home with a 22". Sneaky ****ing salesmen.

Re: Monitor
I run 2x 19" (both same make/model but bought at different times), and I would never go back to 17".
Even my gf complains when she has to use her own computer, because she cant do two things at once. |
Re: Monitor
Yet another reason to stick with small screens as long as possible :)
P.S. Yeah, I will be getting that 22". Do as I say, not as I do, etc. |
Re: Monitor
Just go big, men shouldn't be buying small things, it doesnt reflect well. Just get the best you can for what you afford which in terms of most monitors is the size :)

Re: Monitor
I thought men got big cars to make up for there small penises. I guess its different for internet users :salute:

Re: Monitor
I ended up gwtting the one I chose. 17" widescreen. Seems a bti smaller due to the widescreen, but it seems to do what I want it to, so it's all good.
Thanks for the help. |
Re: Monitor
update: having had the monitor for less than two weeks, I have to send it back because one pixel has broken. I shall be getting a refund and buying a slightly more expensive one for about £100.

Re: Monitor
Most companies permit 2-5 dead pixels per million. It's retarded (make correctly working screens, you morons), but that's the way it is. Read up on ISO 13406-2. Here too.
I wish you all the luck in the world getting your money back. |

How do I work out how many pixels are in my monitor so I know when it is sufficiently broken? |
Re: Monitor
Look up your resolution, then multiple width by height.

Re: Monitor
1440x900 = 1,296,000
So only another 6 or so to go. Bring it on! |
