Jagex Usernames Rule

Sorry Ace, but it says "usernames" not ruler/planet names.

If I want to play as Synthetic_Sid of 1up I will.

Unless it's already been taken.

Re: Jagex Usernames Rule

I dont see why were now allowed to rename our planet/ruler names though if the breech the rule, as people dont know jagex staff or usernames it seems unfair? Its a step in the right direction though.

t3k 9 Oct 2010 00:18

Re: Jagex Usernames Rule

Yeah, the not being given a chance to rename it if we "accidentally" stumble upon something that might be offensive when spoken in some language that might have been used 200 years ago in a country that no longer exists, but is still technically in breach of the rules etc. sucks.

Re: Jagex Usernames Rule

Since the content of those rules are posted on the Jagex pages and in all of their games the username is the same as we have the ruler / planet name we saw the need to expain it a bit more.
Since we dont have those rules "worded" more for PA yet.

The username we have in PA is only known to the player since that's the login name.

So now you educated the forum users, which is OK, but John Doe who signs up reading the EULA only will not realize this. I trust you guys to have this paragraph worded accurately on the eula page by the time sign ups open.

Username is username, it can't be fleet name or planet name just because you think it means it, it has to be written in the agreement.

Ace 10 Oct 2010 14:10

Re: Jagex Usernames Rule

It was already updated on the rules page.

So what's the verdict? I have read the Jagex rules, and it (still) says username, not ruler/planet. As long as this isn't changed, i can name my planet whatever names i want to, as long as they don't break other rules.

- If the MH staff changes an R/P-name or alliance name, it will not be changed for the remainder of the round.

That is NOTHING like the section of the Jagex rules you've posted, nor is it in the EULA which is what is presented to users at the point of signup. And it's the EULA which people have mentioned in this thread, so posting that section of the rules is entirely irrelevent.

God I really am looking forward to the whole lot of you incompetent ****wits being sacked

I mean seriously, was it really that hard to have things clearly and unambiguously laid out in advance? I mean everyone's going to think you're pedantic fun-killing jackasses either way but at least that way you wouldn't have looked like outright morons.

Funny, I was just thinking that whining about the difference between user and ruler name was rather pedantic.

Re: Jagex Usernames Rule

What ever happened to ok, you goofed just fix it. It's a game for ***'s sake. Isn't this supposed to be fun? Just don't cheat and keep going. We get offended much too often over nothing. If no one is likely to remember or care in a year then why is it important? Everyone is just too sensitive for their own good. Grow up, there's a world out there much more important than this game.

I do agree with the thought that the rule, description and wording could always be made more clear but that isn't the person's fault trying to decipher what the intent was.

I know you thought you understood what you thought I said but I'm not sure that you realize that what you thought you heard was not necessarily what I meant.

Or something like that.

The signup page asks if you agree to the terms and conditions, privacy policy and Planetarion terms and conditions - it doesn't ask if you agree to the rules page.

You've also got a User agreement link on the main site navigation which is a clone of the Planetarion T&Cs, and the Rules and Regulations page you keep linking to is in the manual, and isn't part of the sign up process.

You could do with fixing all this documentation up so that there's only one source for all terms and conditions, rules and regulations, and any other legal bits of information.

Very good point. Wish I had said that.

How the **** could that not be acceptable? It's not even insulting anyone. Hell it doesn't even make grammatical sense.

Not that being allowed on the forums has anything whatsoever with being allowed ingame.

just asking, fleet names like "The Pen Is Almighty" were not allowed. Hardly insulting anyone either.

That's clearly a sexual reference which is barred though. I have no idea how ninetyfive percent of moron is insulting anyone. As I said it doesn't even make grammatical sense.

They even deliberately misspell or mispronounce stuff to find a reason to rename planets.

I stand by my thread from last round, just remove these incompetent people for heavens sake.
