Ship Shielding
 
HI folks,
Got an idea worth exploring and the thought of having shielding on ships to make the game more XP playable rather than who has most value and can muster ships that fire first.

this would work for ships that fire damage either NORM or CLOAKED it would not have an effect on EMP or steal. (this could Possibily fix stealing)

this would make the game more offensive beccause the defence fleets would need to fire more damage to force a recall.

AS A STATMAKER this would add a dimension in stat making and add a bit of fun to the game

We already have this, it's called armour.

Basicly you're talking about lowering effs.

This would only bring more value into the universe, as it's going to be harder to loose it.

Attack fleets would have to be bigger to force defense to run & hide. (Same as def ships)

That said: this game is already very attack orientaded, we don't need more of this.

Armor is the amount of additional damage you need to do to kill N+1 ships instead of N ships, for any N. What Paisley seems to be suggesting is that you need to do a certain amount of damage before ships start dying, between N=0 and N=1 only. That is a brand new addition, and it can be tweaked independently of armor.

That said, I agree, I don't think it'll improve the game. There'll be more swap-the-roid, because unless you can overcover an inc enough to overcome shielding, you might as well not defend. Yes, it'll produce more battles, but those will be boring: everyone will fire a clip or two into the air and then go home again. It's a little like giving everyone an AI Cat teamup partner.

Its a way how you could fix zik and have steal only attack fleets
I know that jintoa has put pressure on appoco and Cin to do stealers dont lose value when capping unless tehy lose too many ships

not sure what would be easier to impliment but worth looking into imo

Stealers used to not die when stealing, so I bet that's easier to implement. :P

Not that I'm suggesting that should be the criterium, mind you!
