I don't really care that much, but given a choice I'd prefer ND just because they were more loosely affiliated to Osiris who made all those kitchen sink attacks on us the last 10 days or something.

Personally, I'd rather see the people we worked with win. If they don't, it certainly won't be for lack of trying.

Or is this where I whine about the number of NAPs Evolution has?

In fairness if ND crashed themselves to defeat, they deserve to lose. As with people in Ascendancy who crash, zero sympathy should be provided. In the last day it's up to alliances in a lead to play conservatively and minimise any losses to roids and roids only to protect that lead.

Anything else is just bad planetarion.

ND was adding planets to tag all day long, and now you tell us if we do it, its shitty ?

get real

Re: Congratulations Evolution!

Bitter is what bitter does.

ND clearly deserved the win, which was properly stolen by 90% universe in last 8 days of constant incomings. Fair play. ND fought until the last tick and lost, so congratulations goes to Evolution. you did not that yourelves, but needed 5-6 allies to carry you there. So congratulations goes to all those aswell.

Now about ND, which I speak very fond of. HC failed in few major issues, while being overly supportive and active, they failed to see that losing all politics in last 1-2 weeks will mean failure no matter how much lead there is. 20/20 hindsight says you haven't done all for your alliance if you have not done alliance play until bitter end...

will it make it any better if we said that even when your incomings were at a peak, they were not bigger then what Apprime had.
and you had like 30 incs a night before the last week.

5-6 allies....hahahahaha

congrats Evo, an alliance that fought wars in a wargame won!

They added some little 800k planet, didn't they? Evo's score went up only 600k the last tick, which is close to what it was increasing every other tick, so I'm highly skeptical that adding another planet meant anything.

As for Evo winning the game with 5-6 allies: I think they had 2, App and Osi. We all know ND had tons of naps, Asc as their own ally and 30 more players. And even if Evo had more allies, politics is politics. ND had their political strategy and Evo had another. Evo won.

Both played a good round though.

Evo added Dunkelgraf last tick, and it's already admitted that his score tipped it over for Evo.

Re: Congratulations Evolution!

nor did I beg for him to come to our tag, I said if anything don't go anywhere. His score reflected 400K gain, our gap was 292K, if evo didn't add him, we won by 100K..

as for us adding members to our tag, if you count 100K planets that belong to Stein, Some random dude, and our ex HC buly coming back, all with tiny planets, then chalk it up as us adding members to our score.. total combined points with them, roughly 3 some million, not even adding to our tag total. i wont whine, or complain, i just know personally if i would of won like that, i'd feel greasy.

as for "losing our politics". we didnt, its the pure fact that osi liked evo more than ND. Ct didnt want to break the nap with the block, and asc wanted top planet. we tried to gain friends from places, but had none, so taking on your waves the past week, by ourselves, has been a challenge i feel we won.

onwards to the future! thank you all for one of the closests rounds in PA history, if not the closest, and a little fun back in PA!

Re: Congratulations Evolution!

well, yes we did win through adding a planet at the end, but ND can hardly moan about people having too many planets.

Also, most alliances were warring throughout the round, and actually getting incoming the whole time, whereas ND avoided this..

As i said weeks and weeks ago, when app/osi/evo were hitting asc to stop them running away with it ND should of been hitting apprime rather than hitting noobs and just getting easy roids. Had ND done this apprime would of been hurt too much to help evo inthe last week and you would of won by a clear margin.

Also, there were lots of other if and maybes throughout the round for all alliances, so to try and claim a win just because of 1 planet joining a tag is lame and tbh wrong.

Within the current rules of Planetarion Evolution won the round, end of discussion.

Mzyxptlk 17 Jul 2010 12:30

Re: Congratulations Evolution!

Nothing wrong with winning like this. If anything, Evo gave themselves a handicap. ND played with 90+ planets for 730 ticks, including the last 589 ticks of the round. Evo played with 71 members instead of 70 for a single tick. Too bad though, I would have enjoyed an ND win in the last tick.

As much as I was pleased for you to give a speech in the EoRC especially after the graft you put in especially after some sack kicked you from evolution tag earlier in the round. (Which funny enough would have rendered dunkelgraf's actions as trivial had you not been booted from tag)

It does take the shine off the win though.

I still dont see how ND "avoided war"... Yea we had NAPs out the wazoo... but we fought in every war that happened in the round. You guys just chose not to hit us... how can we be belittled for that?

Can you suggest a better strategy for ND given the capability of their players?

Their playing capabilities aren't that bad... They finished second with a third place on average score.
Add to that their sheer numbers. Could I suggest a better strategy for them? Yes, probably I could. Add willingness to the mix and cunningness and something different than what they did could emerge. However, it is easy to say without being in their exact situation. It is hard to choose the right thing.
I wish them good luck in the forthcoming rounds. :)

Given the amount they lost in a short space of time, I doubt this. Militarily, ND have been habitually good roiders but generally not that great in war. They should have won this time round but couldn't hold onto fleets.

What they need is politics that habitually gains roids but keeps them out of war, I don't see how their strategy this round was anything else apart from that.

Shouldnt they work on addressing that problem though? rather than ignoring it, so they can get a better shot at #1 and not fold as soon as war comes (and they get activly targeted).

If you've got a magic bullet, please do share. Otherwise, I'm rather sure there's been quite a bit of improvement over these two rounds, but this alliance also has one of the greatest turnover rates of any due to a choice the kind of alliance it has been.

I say has been, because from what I hear, that may change, as it has changed before during the existence of the alliance. You may see ND not taking in new players as easily in the future. I hope someone else steps up to fill the void they leave if they go down this path. Quite frankly, I doubt any of the other top5 alliances are willing to do the job, even though you have ridiculed ND for the burdens that come with it.

LordNieminen 18 Jul 2010 08:21

Re: Congratulations Evolution!

tjaah, grats for the win. Was looking that the last week of that fight from the sidelines personally, only did inc scans when I even got incomings. Didn't think the osi fi/co waves would have been that major pain in the ass in just few days as I considered them dangerous if they can hit us for 5-7 days , but it seems they made the difference.

I admit that's tad deep in the shitty way to win gategory by adding a player as there was other options what are more "stealthy", but hey.. I would have done worse to enforce ND win if I could have cared iota about us winning after some dudes though they know better than me so I letted them run their show and it's harvest.

Let's hope the stats are better for next round, otherwise we'r all playing again a round with massive 3:1 gangks minimium needed to land trough ally defs due to random enforced fence galaxies of that big size.

They've been trying this since round 11, but there are other principles that they won't compromise and it would require an exceptional leader to turn them round single-handedly.

And given that they have been pretty much been playing since the beginning of planetarion, the fact that they are still around and getting good ranks is a pretty admirable longevity.
